Black Diamond Venom LT CLassic Ice Axe

The Venom LT Classic is the kind of axe that makes sense when you want to travel light without giving up a steel pick. We like the tidy 45 cm format and the option to build on its modular platform if your future routes demand something different.

Consider Another Option If

You need a supplied hammer, a technical pick or an adjustable pommel; those are separate components rather than part of the Classic configuration.

• Ski mountaineering and lightweight alpine outings
• Trips where low pack weight and a steel pick matter
• Users who may eventually change the Venom LT configuration

• Replaceable Classic LT steel pick: Provides a conventional pick profile for alpine travel.
• Forged aluminum head with adze: Supplies a usable adze without adding a separate attachment.
• Grooved shaft and replaceable spike: Offer defined grip and a serviceable lower contact point.

What is the difference between the Black Diamond Venom LT Classic and Venom LT Tech?

Both use the same 45 cm modular platform. The Classic weighs 240 g and comes with a Classic LT pick and an adze, making it the simpler choice for ski mountaineering and lighter alpine outings. The Tech weighs 310 g according to Black Diamond's specifications and includes a Tech LT pick, hammer and adjustable pommel for more technical objectives. Both support compatible interchangeable components, but accessories not listed as included are sold separately.
